King of the Ladies comes with a story,
a story of fate, a story that lends credence to the thought
that things happen for a reason. Of course if you are not
in mood for a story you may choose to skip to the second
paragraph. It all started at the 2003 North American Alpaca
Show. We sat down with our good friends Ian and Jennifer
Lutz of Cas Cad Nac Farm to see what they had for sale. Jen
suggested an awesome female named Abigail Williams and she
was due to give birth to a Legacy Gold cria in about 2
weeks. We thought long and hard about purchasing her but
when it came right down to it we just couldn't pull it
together financially. Of course 2 weeks later Archangel
was born and years worth of razzing at my expense began.
Later that year we did purchase a top flight female named
Snowmass Bell from CCNF for our children's herd, TKO
Alpacas. Bell was a female with a who's who of alpacas
behind her and she was bred to Supernova. Thankfully Bell
gave us a little girl that our 4 year old daughter quickly
named Cinderella. Skip forward a couple of years now, the
opportunity suddenly presented itself to do an Archangel
breeding, these were far and few between and I excitedly
called Ian and asked him who I should send up. Without
reservation he suggested Cinderella, once he mentioned her
we decided she really was a no brainer. Cinderella gave us
the opportunity to stack the proverbial deck in our favor,
with so many Alpaca Legends in her pedigree we hoped and
prayed for a male cria. This is where the fate part comes
into play. On June 4, 2008 the finest cria ever born on our
farm hit the ground and became an instant classic. He has
grown so much to be like his incredible sire in so many
ways, it could only mean the gods have been watching us. We
missed our opportunity to get dad but we got the next best
thing, an awesome son. We had originally named him
something like High Octane or Diesel or some high
performance name and then one day I was doing chores in the
barn listening to the newest Extreme disc and a song came on
named King of the Ladies (by the way if you haven't heard
this song yet get in iTunes and download it, I really think
you will become a fan). Since Pat Badger was a member of
the band Extreme, at that point a co-owner of Archangel and
a great friend we decided that King of the Ladies was the
perfect name for our Arch boy. So now you have the story of
how "Kinger" as we call him for short came to be.
Now let's talk about what makes King of the Ladies so
special in our eyes. We think he is complete in every
way. Fiber: Amazingly soft (16 microns) combined with a
very high level of density. The combining of these two
traits makes him very special to us but thankfully his
positive fiber traits don't end there. Kinger has a very
long, super organized staple, that displays blinding
brightness and high amplitude, high frequency crimp that
carries to all corners of his body. When push comes to
shove we absolutely feel safe saying Kinger possesses an
elite fleece. Frame: Very solid, square and balanced.
He has a phenotype that is very pleasing to the eye, big
boned, well covered, spectacular head while topping
confirmation off with a correct bite. He is just an all
around solid specimen.
This all comes as no surprise considering King of the Ladies
lineage that's fit for a King, although we all know
livestock breeding is always a roll of the dice and a little
luck. King of the Ladies has a ton of big name alpacas in
his background. CCNF Archangel, 4P Legacy, Snowmass Legacy
Gold, 3P Mr. President, 3PAugusto, 3PRoyal Fawn, 3PGrand
Master, 3P Lilly, Royal Peruvian Apollo, Supernova, Peruvian
Snowmaster and 3P Pachelbel. This list includes some of the
most influential sires and dam's in our countries alpaca
history. It is this history that has heaped the quality
into Kinger and would be worth your roll of the dice as well
with a breeding to TKO's King of the Ladies.
